DuPont Industrial Biosciences, a division within the US-headed global chemical and biological engineering company DuPont, and MIAVIT GmbH, a German specialist producer and distributor of animal feed, ingredient- and nutritional supplements, have announced supply agreement where DuPont will supply enzymes for incorporation in biogas-boosting products distributed by MIAVIT. The announcement was made during the EuroTier/Energy-Decentral trade show in Hannover, Germany.
Enzymes for enhanced biogas production
According to a statement, DuPont Industrial Biosciences will provide its “FIBREZYME G4” enzyme biotechnology to MIAVIT for inclusion in “MiaMethan ProCut”, a new biogas ingredient for the agricultural sector sold by MIAVIT. This ingredient helps improve the breakdown of poorly digestible materials to allow for more efficient conversion to biogas. Enzyme technology has been proven to improve biogas yields and process robustness, ultimately increasing customers’ revenue and profitability while increasing offerings in renewable energy.
– We are constantly innovating to offer our customers the latest technology to improve profitability and opportunity in the marketplace. As new technology, like FIBREZYME from DuPont, comes online, we see tremendous opportunity for our customers to improve efficiency and yields. This, in turn, provides the emerging biogas industry a new revenue stream, particularly for rural and farm communities, from materials that would ordinarily go to waste – reducing damaging environmental impacts and expanding renewable options for power generation, said Franz Otten, Managing Director of Sales at MIAVIT.
In July, DuPont Industrial Biosciences announced its entry into the growing biogas sector with the launch of “OPTIMASH AD-100”, an innovative new liquid enzyme product that has been shown to produce up to a 13 percent increase in biogas yields in anaerobic digesters (AD). The company’s latest enzyme offering, “FIBREZYME G4”, is available in powder format and helps reduce the viscosity of poorly digestible materials by over 60 percent, thereby allowing faster processing time.
– We are focused on continuous innovation for our customers. Customers can expect this technology to increase biogas production, improve biogas quality, shorten process time and reduce the amount of feedstock required – all backed by our decades of experience in the global industrial enzyme and renewable energy businesses, said Conrad Burke, Global Marketing Director at DuPont Industrial Biosciences.
