DuPont Industrial Biosciences launches new enzyme product for biogas industry

DuPont Industrial Biosciences launches new enzyme product during UK AD & Biogas event. Tailored for the biogas industry to improve biogas yield from anaerobic digesters (AD), the launch represents DuPont Industrial Biosciences’ entry into the growing biogas sector.

– DuPont is very excited about the sector potential and we see a big opportunity in using enzymes, said Conrad Burke, Global Marketing Director of DuPont Industrial Biosciences in his launch address during UK AD & Biogas.

DuPont Industrial Biosciences, a division within the US-headed global chemical and biological engineering company DuPont, has announced the launch of an innovative new enzyme product that it says will help biomethane producers improve biogas yields and process robustness, which is expected to ultimately increase their revenue and profitability.

Called OPTIMASH AD-100, the enzyme launch also represents DuPont Industrial Biosciences’ entry into the growing biogas sector. The enzyme breaks down organic matter – like food, paper, animal and farm wastes – resulting in sugars more suitable for biogas-producing microorganisms and, according to DuPont, has been shown to produce up to a 13 percent increase in biogas yields in anaerobic digesters (AD). The addition of this enzyme into the process improves the profitability for customers and operators by reducing feedstock requirements and increasing biogas production.

– DuPont is entering this market with an offering that is backed by decades of experience in the global industrial enzyme business. Customers can expect this technology to increase biogas production, improve biogas quality, shorten process time and reduce mixing costs – all supported by a global organisation with continuous investment in R&D, said Conrad Burke, Global Marketing Director of DuPont Industrial Biosciences during a presentation at the UK AD & Biogas event in Birmingham, UK.
