Environmental equipment specialist, Terex Ecotec —part of Terex Materials Processing group, a subsidiary of US-headed Terex Corporation has announced the introduction of the TSS 390 Plus slow-speed shredder, the latest addition to its recycling portfolio. The single-shaft shredder can process a broader range of materials than its predecessor, the TSS 390, including waste, green waste, and large lump wood, and delivers greater versatility and more effective shredding.

The TSS 390 was first launched in 2020 as a robust and versatile single-shaft, slow-speed shredder.

The TSS 390 Plus is the result of extensive customer feedback and has been carefully engineered to retain the core design principles that made the TSS 390 successful. With the addition of advanced new features to meet today’s demanding shredding requirements, the TSS 390 Plus has been rigorously tested across a wide range of applications and is set to create new opportunities in the market, said Conor Hegarty, Business Line Director for Terex Ecotec.

According to the company, the TSS 390 Plus shares all the key features of the TSS 390, including the in-house–designed shredding chamber with a hydrostatically driven shredding shaft offering full-speed reverse.

Combined with customisable shredding programmes, this provides improved shaft cleaning in difficult applications, reducing wrappage and optimising throughput.

The chamber also features a hydraulically adjustable counter comb, allowing simple adjustment of piece size. The comb can operate in release mode for uninterrupted shredding or in fixed mode for applications where a precise piece size is critical. Double-sided access supports chamber maintenance and uptime.

However, the key design enhancement to the TSS 390 Plus is the increased under-chamber clearance, with a higher discharge channel (820mm) to enable large, coarse, bulky shredded material to clear the machine.

Increased under-chamber clearance supports increased application flexibility, making the TSS 390 Plus suitable for bulk volume reduction whilst still being able to produce a controlled piece size.

The TSS 390 Plus comes as standard with an 18-tooth shaft, providing increased torque per tooth tip, which is particularly beneficial for tough applications and coarse shred. The optional 36 tooth shaft can be supplied if required.

With improved hopper capacity and geometry, the TSS 390 Plus can accept long, bulky materials into the shredding chamber, improving the material feed process and throughput.

An innovative design feature is the quick-release product conveyor system, so that the conveyor can be quickly removed by a single operator, without the need for tools, improving service access.
