Under the Agreement of Cooperation in Science & Technology concluded between the Government of India and the Government of Norway, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India and the Research Council of Norway (RCN) have started a programme for joint funding of Indo-Norwegian joint research projects in mutually agreed fields to achieve "world-class" scientific results.
According to a statement, the projects funded in this call will strengthen research collaboration between Norway and India within agriculture and land-based food, biotech, aquaculture and bioenergy/biofuels.
The projects are of high quality and are expected to fulfil the objective of the call; that the project should strengthen already on-going research activities in each research group and contribute significantly to added value to these on-going activities.
The total funding available in this call is NOK 30 million. The granted projects are:
- Biotechnological Approaches for Prevention and Control of Fish Disease in Aquaculture (BIOAQUA) – Norwegian University of Life Science and Centre for Science Education & Research (NUCSER), Nitte University
- C.R. Edit- CRISPR/Cas9 edition to test and control genes implicated in influencing Aeromonas disease resistance in carp and salmon – Nofima and ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture
- Greenhouse gas emissions from biogas digestate application to rice production systems – The Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research and School of Biotechnology KIIT University
- Production of JP-8 Range Fuels and Chemicals from Pyrolysis bio-oil Using Nanostructured Catalyst – SINTEF Materials & Chemistry and Department of Chemistry, Anna University.
