In South Korea, Hanwha Corporation Machinery, a plant manufacturer and member of the Hanwha Group, has been commissioned by SY Energy to plan and set up a 300 000 tonnes-per-annum wood-pellet plant in Jincheon. Germany-headed BÜTTNER Energie- und Trocknungstechnik GmbH (Büttner), a Siempelkamp Group company has been commissioned to supply the drying and dryer-heating processes that are able to handle a capacity of 40 tonnes-per-hour dry material.
According to Büttner, the project is being implemented with a single-path drum dryer sized 5.0 x 24 R, which achieves a water-evaporation capacity of 35 tonnes-per-hour and uses cyclones for material separation as well as ash cyclones for flue-gas cleaning. The heat is to be supplied by a 36 MWth Büttner reciprocating grate energy plant.
A contributing decisive factor in this order being placed was the fact that Büttner is, as the one-stop supplier, able to deliver both the dryer and energy plant and so provide an integrated control concept that links both parts of the process in the best way possible.
