Malmberg awarded new UK biogas upgrading contract

In the United Kingdom (UK), Wessex Water renewable energy company GENeco is investing in a new biogas upgrading plant from Sweden-headed biogas technology providers MalmbergGruppen AB. The plant will be installed at Trowbridge wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), which is situated in south England 160 km west of London.

According to a statement, the delivery includes a turnkey Malmberg Compact GR BAS 3 with a capacity to purify 600 Nm3 per hour of biogas into biomethane. The gas will be injected into the gas grid with high pressure (8,5 bar).

This is GENeco’s second plant from Malmberg. The first one produces biomethane at Bristol bioresources and renewable energy park, in Avonmouth.

The plant at Trowbridge will deliver green gas to the grid in March 2019 and marks the 12th Malmberg upgrading plant supplied to the UK.

The UK and GENeco are showing rest of Europe that biomethane is an energy source to count on. We are thankful that we have the opportunity in UK to be a part of the UK green gas transformation, commented André Carlsson, Business Area Director Biogas, Malmberg.
