Marubeni and Chubu Electric to develop 75 MW biomass power plant in Godo

In Japan, industry conglomerate Marubeni Corporation (Marubeni) has announced that it, via its wholly-owned subsidiary Marubeni Clean Power Corporation (Marubeni Clean Power) has established a special purpose company, Gifu Seino Green Power LLC (GSGP) together with power utility Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Chubu Electric) to develop a wood-based biomass power plant, Godo Biomass Power Plant in Godo Town, Anpachi, Gifu Prefecture.

Owned by Marubeni Clean Power and Chubu Electric as a 50/50 joint venture (JV), Gifu Seino Green Power LLC (GSGP) will build and operate the 75 MW Godo Biomass Power Plant on the premises of the Ibigawa Plant owned by Teijin Co., Ltd in Godo.

Construction of the plant, the value of which has not been disclosed, is expected to start in October 2021 with commercial operations scheduled for March 2023. The plant will mainly use woodchips as fuel sourced from unused wood from forest thinning in Gifu Prefecture.

In addition, GSGP has signed a Pollution Control Agreement with Godo Town, and a Loan Agreement with Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank, Ltd. and Juroku Bank Ltd.

Marubeni Clean Power Corp and Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc, have formed Gifu Seino Green Power LLC to develop the 75 MW Godo Biomass Power Plant that will primarily use locally sourced unused wood from forest thinning in Gifu Prefecture.
