The Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) has announced that Neste Components, the Dutch subsidiary of Finnish oil and biofuel refining company Neste Oyj, has achieved certification as a trader of Hydrotreated Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) in line with the RSB EU RED scheme, which demonstrates compliance with both RSB trader requirements and those laid out in the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED) for access to the EU market.

Neste Components is working to ensure that the future is built on renewables and has been investing in sustainable solutions in transportation and aviation fuels — this RSB certification is a step on its journey to meet its commitment to these goals through a rigorous third-party verified certificate.
We are very proud to have received our RSB trader certification. Warranting full integrity of our supply chain has top priority and complying with the requirements of the most trusted certification scheme for the bioeconomy sends a clear message about our commitment to the highest levels of sustainability, providing trust in our efforts. I would like to thank the RSB team for the good cooperation and a thoroughly executed certification process, said Thorsten Lange, EVP of Renewable Aviation at Neste Components.
Welcoming the company as a new RSB Participating Operator, RSB Executive Director (interim), Elena Schmidt congratulated Neste Components on its certification as an RSB trader as a positive step to ensure trust in its supply chain.
Ensuring sustainability across the biofuels industry is essential to build trust in it as a solution to the climate crisis and we look forward to continuing to work with the Neste Group to further strengthen their commitments to sustainability via RSB certification, said Elena Schmidt.
