A result of the partnership between Brazilian companies Braskem and Tramontina, the "Jet" and "Paco" plastic chairs combine "design sophistication with environmentally friendly practices". Both products are made with Braskem's "I'm Green" Green Plastic, a sustainable sugarcane-derived innovation by the Brazil-headed petrochemical major and the world's first renewable polyethylene (PE) to be produced on an industrial scale.
One of the most popular Brazilian brands, Tramontina is major manufacturer and producer of utensils and equipment for kitchen, home appliances, tools for agriculture, gardening, industrial and automotive maintenance, utility vehicles, construction, electrical materials, and wood or plastic furniture.
With the same strength, durability and weight of chairs made from fossil plastic, the Jet and Paco lines feature Braskem’s “I’m Green” seal, allowing consumers to recognize the products made with Green Plastic. The green resin, made from ethylene obtained from sugarcane, has the same physical characteristics as those of conventional polyethylene (PE) and can be fully utilized by the traditional recycling chain.
In addition according to Braskem, the green polyethylene does not degrade, what is captured remains fixed throughout the entire product lifecycle. The resin is produced at Braskem’s plant in Triunfo, Rio Grande do Sul (RS) and the plant has a capacity to produce 200 000 tonnes of renewable resin annually.
