Netherlands-headed gas and wastewater biotechnological treatment process developer Paques Europe BV, has revealed that it was awarded a multi-million EUR contract by Finland-headed gas major Gasum Oy, for the supply of anaerobic bioreactors and gas desulphurisation installation in order to treat the wastewater stream and produce biomethane at Stora Enso’s Nymölla paper mill, in Nymölla, Sweden.

In October 2018 Gasum and Stora Enso announced plans to build a biogas plant at Stora Enso’s Nymölla paper mill in Sweden. The plant, to be built and operated by Gasum, will turn the mill’s wastewater effluent into renewable energy.
Gasum plans to produce liquefied biogas (LBG) and sell this as fuel for cars, buses, trucks, and ferries. The Nymölla biogas plant project includes biogas production, cleaning, and upgrading to biomethane and liquefaction. The expected LBG production of the plant is 220 MWh per day. Start-up is expected during 2020.
Signed at the end of December 2018, Paques Europe scope of supply includes “BIOPAQ ICX” anaerobic bioreactors and a THIOPAQ gas desulphurisation installation in order to treat the wastewater stream at Stora Enso’s Nymölla paper mill and produce biogas.
