Dust fire swiftly contained at Maine Wood Pellet Co
In the United States (US), firefighters swiftly brought a filter fire incident at Maine Woods Pellet Company in Athens, Maine (ME) under control preventing any serious property damage or loss.
According to local media reports, crews from several fire departments responded to a fire in dust collection bags at Maine Woods Pellet Co’s 90 000 tonne-per-annum pellet facility in Athens, Maine (ME) that started on August 31.
A spark in a dust control system at the plant is to have ignited a fire in dust collection bags though firefighters were able to contain the fire preventing it from spreading to the facility’s baghouse. No injuries were reported and the plant is expected to recommence operations soon.
