Fire destroys hardwood pellet plant

In the United States (US), a fire at Corinth Wood Pellets LLC in Corinth, Maine (ME) has destroyed the manufacturing hall of the 75 000 tonne-per-annum hardwood pellet plant.

According to local media reports, the fire which broke out in the late afternoon of September 19, is to have started in the pellet cooler of the manufacturing plant. Fire services from several departments managed to contain the blaze to the manufacturing building which was destroyed. No injuries were reported apart from smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion in efforts to control the fire.
