Swedish fuel cell technology developer PowerCell Sweden AB (Powercell) has announced that it has signed an order for fuel cell systems to a leading European OEM manufacturer of propulsion systems for the marine cruise industry.
PowerCell has signed an order for four Marine System 225 with an effect of 1.1 MW to be installed as marine power generators at a leading European OEM manufacturer of propulsion systems for the marine cruise industry.
The order value is SEK 16.5 million (≈EUR 1.42 million) and delivery will occur in the first half of 2025.
This is the first commercial order for the newly introduced Marine System 225, which according to the company can “drastically” reduce emissions and noise compared to traditional fossil fuel-powered systems that many cruise ships use today.
