RAFT Energy Ltd, a UK-headed waste-to-energy innovator, has announced the opening of a UK-based biochar production facility in the Cotswolds. The new facility is dedicated to manufacturing its modified and activated biochar catalyst "ActiCH4R" for UK and Irish biogas and biomethane plants.
The RAFT Energy Cotswolds site is set to produce 5,000 tonnes of its ActiCH4R catalyst, which helps boost microbiology performance and methane yield, in the next 12 months, with the capacity to scale further to meet growing demand from the UK and Irish renewable energy sectors.
This is a big milestone for RAFT Energy and for our customers. Having a UK manufacturing base means that we can deliver faster, reduce logistics costs, and provide an even more sustainable supply chain for the biogas industry, said Karl Ahmed, Co-Founder and COO at RAFT Energy.
With sustainability and innovation at its core, the facility will help biogas and biomethane (aka renewable natural gas – RNG) plants maximize output while contributing to a circular, low-carbon energy system.
Alongside the UK launch, RAFT Energy is also constructing a new production site in Germany, scheduled for completion in Q4-2025, further expanding its European footprint and production capacity.
