Brazilian integrated sugarcane ethanol, sugar, and bioenergy major Raízen S.A. has announced that it together with its subsidiary Raízen Energia S.A. has completed a previously announced transaction to incorporate the assets of Biosev S.A., a Brazilian subsidiary of Louis Dreyfus Holding. The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, includes nine production units strategically located in Brazil – six in the state of São Paulo, two in Mato Grosso do Sul, and one in Minas Gerais – with a total installed sugarcane processing capacity of up to 32 million tonnes (photo courtesy Raízen).

In February 2021, Raízen announced that it signed a commercial agreement to incorporate the assets of Biosev, subject to certain preconditions and approval from relevant regulatory bodies. All the terms and conditions set forth in the acquisition agreement have been duly fulfilled.

Raízen now owns 35 biorefineries across Brazil with an installed annual processing capacity of 105 million tonnes of sugarcane and approximately 1.3 million ha landbank.

As part of the transaction, Hédera Investimentos e Participações S.A. (Hédera) becomes a significant owner with approximately 3.22 percent of the company’s capital stock.

The conclusion of the transaction consolidates Raízen’s leadership in the process of energetic transition through the increase of the offer of efficient, clean, and renewable energy.
