SHI secures order for a 75 MW class biomass power boiler in Japan

Japan-headed Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd (SHI) has announced that it has secured an order from compatriot Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd for a 75 MW class biomass power boiler planned for Hirohata Biomass Power Generation Co., Ltd in Hirohata-ku, Himeji-shi, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.

According to a statement, the plant will use woodchips as its primary fuel. SHI will supply a highly-efficient dedicated biomass-fired circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler utilizing the reheat system. SHI has over 500 CFB boilers operating globally with a proven ability to handle a wide range of fuels including various forms of biomass.
