In Germany, Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH (SBG), a subsidiary of Japan-headed JFE Engineering Corporation has announced that it has received an order from Romonta EBS GmbH for a waste-to-energy (WtE) power plant in Amsdorf.

Base chemical manufacturer Romonta Group owns a large-scale brown coal mine on its premises and supplies heat and electricity to its own factory with a lignite-fired boiler. The Group has decided to build a new WtE power plant to proceed with fuel conversion from lignite in line with the country’s ambitions to transition from coal by 2038.
The plant will have a treatment capacity of 366 tonnes per day of waste with one incinerator line and is expected to be completed in June 2024. The steam will be supplied to the plant of Romonta for power generation and wax production.
The components fuel crane, firing system, boiler, flue gas treatment, and the associated auxiliary equipment are part of the SBG delivery scope, the value of which has not been disclosed.
SBG has been involved in the design and construction of approximately 120 WtE power plants to date. In addition to this proven track record, the company says that was selected for the reason of the successful supply of two boiler lines incl. water-cooled pusher type grate in 2004 and 2009 to the client.
