Sunoil Biodiesel acquires Biodiesel Kampen

Netherlands-based biodiesel producer Sunoil Biodiesel BV has acquired the production facility and property of bankrupted compatriot Biodiesel Kampen BV for an undisclosed amount reports Platts.

According to Platts, Sunoil Biodiesel has acquired the assets belonging to Biodiesel Kampen but not the legal entities and plans to start production at the Kampen facility during the first half of 2020.

The 80 000 tonne-per-annum plant in Kampen had closed and was put up for sale when Biodiesel Kampen was declared bankrupt on August 26, 2019.

The former owner is currently serving a sentence over fraud and money laundering convictions although further court cases, on charges of selling non-sustainable biodiesel as sustainable, await.
