Swedish Exergy to supply Superheated Steam Dryer to Spain

Swedish biomass dryer technology developers and suppliers Swedish Exergy AB has announced that it will supply an Exergy Superheated Steam Dryer to Agricultura y Conservas S.A (Agriconsa) in Spain. The dryer will be used to dry citrus peel, a production residue, for use as animal feed.

Part of the Spanish fruit and vegetable cooperative major Anecoop, Agricultura y Conservas S.A (Agriconsa) produces around 160 000 tonnes of canned fruits and fruit juices annually at its facility in Algemesi. As part of its ambition to reduce its environmental impact and costs, the company has contracted Swedish Exergy for the delivery of an Exergy Superheated Steam Dryer (photo courtesy Agriconsa).

The dryer will be used to dry orange and citrus peel that was previously discarded as residual waste. The dried peel will be sold as a high-value animal feed produced with minimal energy consumption and minimal carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint.

The Exergy Superheated Steam Dryer recovers up to 95 percent of the energy which is put into the system. This excess energy in the form of steam will be used as process steam for the evaporators thus eliminating the requirement for an outside energy source to run the evaporators.

Swedish Exergy AB is proud that our expertise and technology can and will help companies, in this case, Agricultura y Conservas S.A, achieve their environmental goals and seize opportunities that provide newfound financial gains. We thank Agricultura y Conservas S.A for their confidence in us and look forward to delivering a modern and robust steam dryer to Agricultura y Conservas S.A during 2021, said Christoffer Glavander, Sales Manager at Swedish Exergy.
