Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH (SBG), a subsidiary of Japan-headed JFE Engineering Corporation (JFEE) has announced that it has received a “Notice to Proceed” (NTP) from B+T Energie France S.A.S, a member of B+T Group, for the Energie Production Center Chalampé (EPCC) project, a waste-to-energy (WtE) plant in Chalampé, France (image courtesy SBG).

According to a statement, after a successful pre-engineering phase, the NTP was issued with effect from October 30, 2020. The 80 MWth plant will have a treatment capacity of 200 000 tonnes per annum of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and other solid waste with one processing line and generate 96.8 tonnes-per-hour of steam.

The steam will be supplied to an adjacent chemical plant of ALSACHIMIE, a BASF and Domo Chemicals company, to complement the existing gas-fired power plants and reduce the use of natural gas. Construction start is scheduled for July 2021 with commercial operations set for March 2023.

SBG has been involved in the design and construction of approximately 120 WtE plants to date. In addition to this proven track record, this order was also awarded based on a high evaluation of SBG´s long approved experience in the sector and especially with regard to the reference plant PreZero Energy in Bernburg, and others in Germany, which included a similar scope of supply and services.
