In the first quarter of 2017, 65 new forwarders were registered in Sweden. Just one of them was made by Tigercat. But internationally the picture is different, and that’s what Tigercat wants to present at Elmia Wood.
Tigercat is a big name on the world market for machines developed for tree-length logging. While that will be part of the company’s offering at Elmia Wood, Tigercat will focus on cut-to-length (CTL) showcasing harvesters and forwarders.
According to the company, an “exciting combination of both” methods will debut at the fair – the LH822D tracked harvester with a dangle harvesting head on the end of the boom. The newly developed undercarriage with longer tracks gives it better accessibility and enables it to stand securely in steep terrain.
25 tonnes load capacity
– We’re also presenting the new forwarders in our C series, said Samantha Paul of Tigercat in Canada.
There are three new forwarders: models 1085C, 1075C and 1055C. The 1085 C is literally the biggest new model, with a load capacity of no less than 25 tonnes. It’s 308 hp engine, developed in-house, complies with the latest Tier 4 environmental regulations.
The giant shares its design with the two other models, which have 14 and 20 tonnes load capacities respectively. One standout feature is the long-wide bunk, which provides good visibility even when the forwarder is fully loaded as well as a larger working envelope for the boom.
The boom is also new and also designed by Tigercat to give more lifting power and greater slewing torque. Two of the models are also equipped with Tigercat’s new WideRange infinitely variable transmission, which replaces the traditional two-gear hydrostatic operation.
