Three Volvo Group companies have combined forces taking up the largest stand at the new Load & Transport section of Elmia Wood. The three are showcasing logging trucks, wheeled loaders and excavator as well as engines in what can be described as a demonstrative show of force.

An iconic Swedish brand, Volvo Group has three companies within the Group that have combined forces at the upcoming Elmia Wood international forestry trade show. Consisting of Volvo Construction Equipment (VCE), Volvo Penta and Volvo Trucks the three have collectively taken up the largest stand at the new Load & Transport section of the event.
It’s the first time we’re doing such a campaign in Sweden, says Lisa Arwenhielm, who is in charge of the Group’s participation at the show.
VCE has a solid forest pedigree, with its loaders and excavators doing earthmoving work, building forest roads and working at log yards as well as a tracked-based carrier for harvesters. On display from VCE will be an L180H high-lift wheel loader with a log grapple, the L150H with a log grapple, and the L120H with a bucket. There will also be two excavators with accessories – the ECR235EL and the compact ECR88D compact excavator with a range of attachments.
Volvo Penta gaining a foothold
The Group’s engine company Volvo Penta is a world-leading supplier of engines for industrial and marine use and in recent years is gaining a foothold as a preferred engine supplier to forest machinery manufacturers.

First was Eco Log, where Volvo Penta is supplying its D8 engine for four harvesters in the new E series. Last autumn a second deal was reached – this time with Rottne Industri, which has switched to Volvo Penta for its eight-wheeled forwarder, the Rottne F15. The switch has enabled both Eco Log and Rottne to offer longer service intervals and efficient engines in the environmental categories demanded by the international forest industry.
At the fair Volvo Penta is exhibiting a D16 engine for very heavy operations such as woodchipping. The D8 will also be there, Arwenhielm says.
Chipper and logger trucks
Volvo Trucks has an obvious presence in the forest industry and at forestry fairs with its timber trucks and will participate with two vehicles. The first is a woodchip truck from Volvo’s new FH series equipped with a 540 hp engine, the I-Shift automatic gearbox with dual clutch and the highly reputed Globetrotter XL cab.
The second is a special version of a timber truck, a Volvo FH16 Ocean Race Edition, which means that its upholstery, mats, grab handles and door panels are inspired by the Volvo Ocean Race. The hardware includes a 750 hp D16 engine, I-Shift automatic gearbox with creeper gears, tandem axle lift for reduced fuel consumption when driving without a load, and Volvo Dynamic Steering, which gives perfect stability at high speeds.
