The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has launched an open consultation on government proposals for controlling the costs of non-grandfathered biomass conversion and co-firing units under the Renewables Obligation (RO). The consultation closes October 26.

According to a statement, BEIS is seeking views from interested parties on proposals for controlling the costs of non-grandfathered biomass conversion and co-firing units under the Renewables Obligation (RO), to apply from April 1, 2018, subject to the outcome of the consultation and Parliamentary approval.
The two options proposed are a generator cap or a re-banding of support levels. The draft Impact Assessment contains an initial assessment of the net impacts of the proposals. The consultation is open until October 26.
