The U.S. Industrial Pellet Association (USIPA) has announced the appointment of Simon Plagborg to its Board of Directors. He replaces Todd Bush, President of North America for CM Biomass, on the Board.
Since 2011, USIPA has served as the American wood energy sector trade association, promoting sustainability and safety practices within the industry.
Advocating for wood energy as a smart solution to climate change and supporting renewable energy policy development around the globe, USIPA members represent all aspects of the wood pellet export industry, including pellet producers, traders, equipment manufacturers, bulk shippers, and service providers.
Todd has been a valuable member of the USIPA Board for more than four years, and we are grateful for his leadership and contributions to the association. We are also pleased to welcome Simon to the USIPA Board. His strong commercial background and strategy expertise are tremendous assets to help strengthen USIPA’s position as a leading voice in the global biomass industry, said Thomas Reilley, USIPA Board Chair.
Simon Plagborg is the CEO of CM Biomass, having joined the company in January 2025. He brings 15 years of experience in executive management and a background in sales and commercial roles from various companies.
Before joining CM Biomass, Simon Plagborg served as Chief Commercial Officer for Skamol Group, a global supplier of insulation systems and part of Etex Group, a global building material manufacturer and pioneer in lightweight construction.
USIPA plays a critical role in promoting the global interests of the industrial biomass sector. I’m excited to join its Board and I look forward to supporting its work to expand awareness of our industry’s potential and advocacy for policies that advance its growth, said Simon Plagborg.
Denmark-headed CM Biomass is currently the world’s largest trader of biomass pellets and a top-five producer with several production facilities in the United States.
This is an exciting time for our industry as biomass use expands into new applications and markets. Simon’s expertise and innovative thinking will help USIPA drive continued growth and impact for the sector, and we are fortunate to have such an accomplished leader join our Board, said Darrell Smith, USIPA Executive Director.
