Viridor has announced its intention to proceed with the Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Avonmouth, on the outskirts of Bristol, UK. The announcement was contained in half year results released by parent company, Pennon on 25th November.
Last week UK material recycling and energy recovery major Viridor announced its intention to proceed with the Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Avonmouth, on the outskirts of Bristol. The announcement was contained in half year results released by parent company, Pennon on Friday 25th November. The planned energy facility will boost the recovery options available to local authorities and business by transforming 320 000 tonnes of non-recyclable residual waste annually into renewable energy.
With procurement of engineering, design and construction partners in advanced stages, construction is due to commence in early 2017. Once operational in 2020, the Avonmouth ERF will generate 33 MW of electricity for the National Grid and around 45 permanent jobs.
