First biomass CHP plant order to Serbia for Urbas

Austria-headed biomass combustion technology providers, Urbas Energietechnik, part of Urbas Maschinenfabrik GmbH has announced that it has been selected by wood pellet producer BioEnergy Point d.o.o to supply a biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant for its pellet production facility in Boljevac, Serbia.

Founded in 2007, BioEnergy Point operates in the field of renewable energy and already in 2008, it commissioned a wood pellet plant in a newly built factory in Boljevac in Eastern Serbia. The pellet plant has since been modernised and the production expanded to its current annual capacity of 85 000 tonnes making it the largest plant in the country.

As part of its next stage of development, BioEnergy Point has contracted Urbas Energietechnik, to supply a 10.87 MWth and 2.55 MWe biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plant for the supply of energy to its pellet production per annum has further expanded its production capacity. The order marks the first-of-its-kind CHP plant in Serbia and the market entry of Urbas in the country.
