Switzerland-headed Kanadevia Inova AG, a global leader in waste-to-energy and renewable gas solutions, has announced financial close on an acquisition to transfer the operations and maintenance team at the Dublin Waste to Energy facility in Ireland into the Kanadevia Inova fold.
Located on the Poolbeg peninsula, the Dublin Waste to Energy Facility came online in 2017 to serve the Greater Dublin Area. Kanadevia Inova, then operating under its previous name HZI, was the plant’s principal contractor for design, build, and commissioning.
Kanadevia Inova announced the agreement to purchase Encyclis Ireland Operations, pending regulatory and stakeholder approvals, last year.
With clearance now received, around 60 highly specialised employees at the Dublin plant have officially joined Kanadevia Inova’s 3,500-strong global workforce.
A comprehensive handover plan will ensure the team’s high-performance standards are upheld.
As of closing, the Swiss-based green-tech company officially takes over the 38-year O&M contract from Encyclis, a deal that also paves the way for an increase in the facility’s waste throughput capacity by 15 percent to 690,000 tonnes per year.
We are delighted to officially welcome the Dublin O&M team into our global family. These are exceptional professionals with a strong track record in delivering performance year after year for the Dublin plant. They make the customer the hero of the story, and this makes them the perfect fit for Kanadevia Inova. We look forward to providing an essential service for the communities of Dublin and beyond, and to expanding the plant’s energy generation to provide low-carbon electricity for even more Irish households, remarked Thomas Feilenreiter, EVP Systems & Service Solutions at Kanadevia Inova.
This transaction illustrates Kanadevia Inova’s unique capability to increase asset value for owners and investors by assuming O&M guarantees while offering engineered upgrades.
The Dublin plant generates enough electricity to power 115,000 homes and is set to provide district heating for up to 50,000 households. With the capacity upgrade, these numbers are set to climb further.
