In the Netherlands, Aurora Renewable Carbon BV (ARC) and Ten Damme BV have signed a long-term agreement for the supply of sustainable wood residues to Aurora’s Empyro fast pyrolysis bio-oil (FPBO) plant in Hengelo, which is scheduled to restart operations later this summer.
Under the agreement, Ten Damme will supply sustainably sourced biomass feedstock that will be converted at the Empyro facility into fast pyrolysis bio-oil.
As a local family-owned company, Ten Damme brings decades of experience in biomass sourcing, logistics, processing, and supply.
With a strong reputation for reliability and operational quality, the company has become a trusted partner within the Dutch sustainable biomass sector.
All biomass supplied under the agreement will comply with the requirements of the NTA 8080 sustainability framework, ensuring full traceability and adherence to strict sustainability criteria for renewable biomass applications.
Milestone for the Biorefinery Twente project
For Aurora Renewable Carbon, the agreement marks an important milestone in the restart of bio-oil production at Empyro.
It also represents another step towards the development of the broader Biorefinery Twente project, which aims to develop renewable carbon and specialty biochemicals production at an industrial scale.
Both Aurora and Ten Damme see the partnership as the start of a long-term collaboration focused on reliability, sustainability, and acceleration of the transition toward renewable carbon and bio-based specialty chemicals in the Netherlands.
