In the United States (US), biomass pyrolysis and biochar solutions provider PyroNexus LLC has recently announced that it has signed an agreement with compatriot biomass pyrolysis technology developers and consultancy Advanced Renewable Technology International Inc. (ARTi) to license ARTi’s pyrolysis technology and intellectual property (IP) as part of its strategy to accelerate the development of next-generation biochar production systems.

Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas (TX), PyroNexus combines engineering expertise with hands-on execution to deliver high-performance biochar production systems.

The company specializes in waste-to-energy solutions, transforming biomass residues into valuable carbon products while supporting circular economy initiatives.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary, BiocharXchange, it is actively developing and expanding domestic and international markets.

Enhance proven technology

According to a statement, this agreement provides PyroNexus access to a proven technology that the firm is actively enhancing through its own innovation roadmap.

Through “targeted engineering improvements”, PyroNexus is building a new generation of pyrolysis solutions that improve system reliability and efficiency, optimize energy performance, and expand feedstock flexibility.

These advancements are intended to support the continued evolution of advanced pyrolysis systems designed for industrial-scale biochar production.

This licensing agreement gives us access to solid pyrolysis technology while allowing us to accelerate the evolution of advanced pyrolysis systems designed for industrial-scale biochar production. We are focused on advancing pyrolysis systems that are more efficient, scalable, and commercially viable for a wide range of applications and solutions, said Byron Biggs, CEO of PyroNexus.

By offering fully integrated solutions that include system conceptual planning, design, deployment, and long-term operational support, PyroNexus says that it “has positioned itself as the go-to partner for turnkey biochar projects globally.”

The company works closely with customers to tailor solutions that align with specific feedstock conditions, operational goals, and sustainability targets.

The company emphasizes that the license arrangement is strictly a technology and IP agreement with ARTi and does not represent a corporate affiliation or partner relationship.
