Andritz AG has announced that it has received an order from Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Ltd to supply a total of five circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers to be installed at five paper mill locations in China. The landmark deal signals the return of Andritz to the Chinese power boiler market.

Austria-headed international technology group Andritz AG has announced that it has received an order from Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Ltd, Asia’s largest paper producer, to supply a total of five circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers.
The “PowerFluid” type boilers will be installed at the company‘s locations in Taicang, Quanzhou, Yongxin, Chongqing, and Dongguan with start-up scheduled for the latter half of 2018. While the value of the order remains undisclosed, the deal marks the return of Andritz to the Chinese power boiler market after an absence of almost two decades.
Paper reject and mill sludge
According to Andritz, the CFB’s will only use in-house residual materials such as rejects and sludges from the recycling of waste paper as fuel to generate power and process steam for each of the mills.
Rejects and sludge are a considerable challenge in boiler operations due to the corrosive substances and impurities they contain, and they require a special design in this regard. However, the five plants ordered are designed for significantly lower flue gas emissions than those required by European legislation.
