Held biennially in Hannover, Germany, LIGNA is the world’s largest woodworking trade show that attracts over 90 000 visitors from all over the globe. Although there is a small forestry part in the outdoor area, LIGNA is not really a forestry show. Yet for Sweden-headed forest and biomass attachment equipment provider Bracke Forest AB, it is the fourth time in a row that the company chooses to exhibit.

“Most people we meet at LIGNA have never heard of Elmia, KwF or INTERFORST that are the normal meeting points for forestry and forest equipment. That is why it is important for us to be here”, explained Per Jonsson, Marketing Manager at Bracke Forest here seen hailing presumptive clients during a sweltering hot INTERFORST 2018 in Munich, Germany.
According to Bracke Forest’s Marketing Manager Per Jonsson, forestry-related visitors at LIGNA, which takes place May 27 – 31, 2019, can be divided into two groups: German forestry people who operate close to Hannover and forest industry people who handle the whole logistics and value chain from the seed to the finished wooden product or component.
It is mainly from markets abroad that we meet people who purchase forestry equipment as well as sawmilling- and other woodworking equipment. Russia is a good example of such a market. Most people we meet at LIGNA have never heard of Elmia, KwF or INTERFORST that are the normal meeting points for forestry and forest equipment. That is why it is important for us to be here explained Per Jonsson.
Planters and accumulating felling heads for biomass
At this year’s Ligna show Bracke Forest, now part of Italy-headed Fassi Group, will show the planting head Bracke P12.a that was developed for South America. Lately, however, there has been an increasing interest also in Europe for the P12. The first one in Europe was recently sold to the Czech Republic.
Apart from the P12, the “classic” Bracke C16 will be present on the stand. This accumulating felling head for biomass is used by quite a number of contractors to take out biomass from field- and roadside clearance operations and railway verges. According to Jonsson, the C16 is still used by contractors in cleanings.
It is a unique cutting solution – a saw disc with a cutting chain instead of a saw bar or a shear –makes the C16 probably the fastest felling head for biomass on the market, ended Per Jonsson.
