Swedish gasification technology developers Cortus Energy has announced that it has been awarded a SEK 4.6 million (≈ EUR 511 000) grant by the Swedish Energy Agency for its “Green gas from WoodRoll for future fossil-free vehicle fleet” project. The decision means an increased activity and testing during 2016 at its “WoodRoll” pilot biomass gasification demonstration plant in Köping, Sweden.

During 2015 the pilot in Köping was rebuilt and upgraded to a fully integrated process flow. This current project is a continuation of this work toward the production of automotive fuels such as synthetic natural gas and hydrogen for fuel cell powered vehicles. The project will ensure that the process will provide syngas of sufficient quality for these applications.

– It is very gratifying for us at Cortus that we get support to continue working in Köping with products of gasification with higher values and focused on the transport sector. We also expect an increased interest from our potential customers and also new stakeholders as we faces to broaden our offering around WoodRoll, commented Rolf Ljunggren, CEO Cortus Energy in a statement.
