Enerstena progresses with two biomass heat plant projects in Finland

Finland-based Nakkila Boilers Oy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lithuania-headed Enerstena Group, has signed two contracts for the delivery of biomass boiler plants equipment to district heating companies in Finland. The main fuels are woodchips with a moisture content of 20-50 percent, forest residues, bark and sod peat.

Enerstena via its subsidiary Nakkila Boilers has two biomass heat plant projects in Finland currently under production.

The first contract with Keuruun Lämpövoima Oy was already signed in December 2016 and is for an 8 MW (10 bar, 120ºC) boiler plant with a 2,2 MW flue gas condenser and condensate treatment system to be completed by December 2017. The plant will provide heat to Keuruu district heating network and ensures the heat production in possible error situation in the main heating plant.

The implementation of the project will allow for the boiler plant in Keuruu, Finland, to generate approximately 60-70 percent of the heat required for the town with a population of 10 000 citizens.

The scope of supply contains all the equipment of a heating plant to be installed in an existing old building. This includes the boiler with ancillaries, ash removal, conveyors, piping, insulation, platform, fans, ducts, flue gas cleaning including a cyclone and a bag filter as well as fuel storage and handling equipment to a new fuel storage building supplied by the client. Plant automation, electrification and building work are also to be carried out by the client.

The second contract with Airanteen Energia Oy was signed in March this year and is for the delivery of a 1.5 MW (10 bar, 120 ºC) heating plant equipment to Urjala. The total output of the new plant is 1.5 MW and it will be used to produce heat to the district heating network in Urjala.

The new plant is being built next to the current plant and an extension of the existing 2.5 MW plant is also part of the agreement. The delivery by Nakkila Boilers Oy includes a full set of boiler equipment with accessories as well as equipment to the fuel storage building whereas the client is responsible for electrification, plant automation as well as the buildings.

Both projects are scheduled to begin supplying heat in December 2017. The value of the orders has not been disclosed.
