The biogas produced at the ‘Porgaporcs’ pig farm is upgraded to biomethane in the Bright Biomethane system using proven membrane technology with high separation efficiency. The plant has a capacity of 214 Nm³ per hour ingoing biogas, which is equivalent to 150 Nm³ per hour biomethane. The biomethane is compressed and used as vehicle fuel, also known as bio-compressed natural gas (bioCNG).
The biomethane project is led by Gas Natural Fenosa (GNF) and is part of their participation in the project LIFE+ Metamorphosis, a European-financed project with the objective to recover energy from organic solid waste from both municipal and agro-industrial and farming sources to obtain alternative and sustainable fuels. The commissioning marks the completion of the first Bright Biomethane delivery to Spain.
