Flying Fish Maritime Innovations B.V., a Dutch pioneer in digital maritime technology and advice, announced a minority investment from CPAC Systems AB, a subsidiary of the Volvo Group, on May 7, 2025. CPAC Systems (Sweden) specializes in developing advanced control and automation systems for the marine, construction, and commercial vehicle industries.

Founded in Delft in 2018, Flying Fish has built a strong reputation through its integrated software and hardware solutions.

Its offerings range from advanced fleet management algorithms for shared waterborne mobility to a modular electric driveline and plug-and-play hydrofoil technology — all designed for sustainability and operational efficiency.

For the Flying Fish team, this step marks the beginning of a broader strategic partnership aimed at accelerating sales growth, product innovation, industrialization, and team development.

We are excited to take this next step in our partnership with CPAC Systems. Our collaboration is based on a shared set of values, a forward-thinking mindset, and a common ambition. CPAC Systems brings long-term experience in scaling technology and enables us to access strong sales channels, which will help accelerate the reach and impact of our innovations. This partnership also opens up new opportunities to support the growth of our talented team of engineers, Gerben Schonebaum, CEO and co-founder of Flying Fish.

CPAC Systems AB, part of the Volvo Group, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, specializes in developing cutting-edge embedded control and automation solutions for marine, construction, agriculture, and commercial vehicle industries, focusing on areas such as electromobility, autonomous driving, and situational awareness.

The investment underscores both companies’ commitment to redefining water-based transportation through innovation, sustainability, and seamless integration.

It marks the beginning of a deeper collaboration aimed at enabling smarter, cleaner, and more connected mobility on the water, for both recreational and commercial applications.

We’re proud to join forces with Flying Fish, a company pushing the boundaries of marine mobility. This investment reflects a strong synergy between our technological strengths and shared drive for sustainable innovation. Together, we see great potential to shape the future of connected and intelligent marine transport, said Marcus Wingolf, CEO of CPAC Systems.

Flying Fish will continue to operate independently, with the investment enabling further growth, research and development, and expansion into new markets.

The two companies will also explore selected product integrations, leveraging their combined strengths in onboard digital platforms, fleet management, and intelligent vessel control.
