Geminor expands European C&D waste capabilities with mobile technology

As part of a strategic drive to increase its presence in the European construction and demolition (C&D) waste market, Norway-headed secondary materials supplier Geminor is utilising state-of-the-art mobile handling technology to "revolutionise and add flexibility" to its operations across Finland.

Previously, a high percentage of C&D waste was exported to Estonia. However due to political uncertainty in the export markets concerning imports of C&D waste Geminor has reviewed its operations, implemented new handling processes and expanded its national network to provide new offtake solutions.

Using a bespoke handling line, C&D waste can if needed also be processed at a customer’s site and separated into valuable fractions. The processed fractions are usually used by the customer as energy, landfill landscaping, and road building, valuable materials such as metals are recycled.

“With an increasing number of customers looking for sustainable offtake solutions for their waste, embracing advanced handling equipment provides an effective solution for companies operating across the construction and demolition sectors. Being mobile, we can if needed to take the sorting line directly to a customer’s site and process waste at a time that suits. This not only streamlines haulage costs but also eliminates the need for a dedicated processing facility,” commented Ismo Hiltunen, Country Manager for Geminor Finland (photo courtesy Geminor).
