Norway-headed biomass and waste-derived fuel suppliers Geminor AS has announced that it has won a public tender process and is extending the contracts with three of the biggest inter-municipal waste companies in western Norway. Starting in April 2021, Geminor will handle and transport waste for the companies Haugaland Interkommunale Miljøverk AS (HIM), Sunnhordland Interkommunale Miljøverk IKS (SIM), and Sogn Interkommunale Miljø- og Avfallsselskap (SIMAS).

According to a statement, the contracts involve the handling of around 10 000 tonnes from HIM, 13 000 tonnes from SIM, and around 7 000 tonnes from SIMAS until 2026 with an option for another two years.
Strategic logistical service contracts
Geminor has delivered logistical services for these companies since 2014, and Kjetil Hausken, Country Manager for Geminor in Norway is very pleased with the extended contracts.

The contracts mainly involve sorted household waste, which works well for energy recovery and the production of heat and electricity. In addition, these contracts secure return transport for our logistics partners. Borregaard’s plant in the town of Sarpsborg is an important recipient for this waste – but we will also distribute the volumes to other off-takers in both Norway and Sweden, explained Kjetil Hausken.
