H2Carrier partners with Eurowind Energy

H2Carrier partners with Eurowind Energy
H2Carrier's P2XFloater concept is based on making a life extension of an existing Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) and expanding upon its design by extending its hull to maximize production capacity. Green hydrogen is produced by pumping onboard seawater from the ocean, purifying it, and feeding it to electrolyzers. The green hydrogen is combined with nitrogen extracted from the air and synthesized in an ammonia generator to produce green ammonia. All steps are powered by renewable wind, solar or hydro energy through a high-capacity power cable from a renewable power source next to the P2XFloater (image courtesy H2Carrier).

Norway-headed Power-to-X project developer H2Carrier AS has announced that it and Eurowind Energy A/S, a leading Danish developer and operator of renewable energy projects, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for developing low carbon fuels from wind and solar power.

The cooperation aims to enable green ammonia for the maritime sector, using intermittent and stranded European wind and solar PV resources as feedstock for H2Carrier’s floating hydrogen and ammonia production and storage concept, the P2XFloater.

According to H2Carrier, its P2XFloater is the world’s first floating production unit for producing green ammonia at an industrial scale.

We are excited to join forces with Eurowind Energy A/S with the aim of offering green ammonia to the industrial and marine fuel market. Eurowind Energy A/S has access to a primary market with +25 000km of coastline which, matched with the P2XFloater system, represents major opportunities for near-shore production of low carbon fuels, said Mårten Lunde, CEO of H2Carrier.

Eurowind Energy is Denmark’s largest provider of onshore wind turbine projects and is involved in both PV and wind turbine investments, with Germany, Denmark, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, and Southern Europe as its primary markets.

H2Carrier’s innovative P2XFloater provides Eurowind with the opportunity for a fast-track development of renewable power resources and enables us to participate in the rapidly growing market for low-carbon fuels. We are excited to engage with H2Carrier as partners in the exploration of the opportunities for deployment of the P2XFloater technology, commented Henrik Lykke Sørensen, Head of Strategic Business Development at Eurowind Energy.
