Netherlands-based biomass combustion and biogas technology specialists HoSt has announced that it has entered into a joint venture (JV) with the Chinese company CPCEP Bio-Energy LLC to "establish a strategic partnership in the bioenergy market." Furthermore, the company has already signed a contract to supply its first biogas plant to China under the new JV.
According to a statement, the contracts were signed in Bejing, China earlier this week by Marcel te Braak, Director of HoSt and Yunfeng Bai, CEO of CPCEP Group.
The signing of these contracts represents another major milestone for HoSt in the bioenergy market. This new joint venture strengthens our global position, said Marcel te Braak.
The “highly advanced” biogas plant will be built in Huai’an, China and will produce biogas from rice straw. The produced biogas will be upgraded to biomethane and will be compressed to CNG and used as a renewable replacement for natural gas. The aim is for the first gas to be produced before the end of the year.
Anaerobic digestion and converting biogas to fuel is an important development for the future of China, said Yunfeng Bai.
