During the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to France, JSC NC “KazMunayGaz” (KMG) and the chemical process technology provider Axens, an IFP Group company concluded a collaboration agreement.
The agreement aims to extend the historical partnership between the two parties. The companies are going to work together to study the feasibility of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in Kazakhstan based on Axens technologies.
The Axens technologies related to renewable fuel production processes will be considered within the frame of the planned Feasibility study (FS) for the “Sustainable aviation fuel production in the RK Project for 2024-2025.
This event marks a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between Kazakhstan and France, as well as between the companies Axens and KMG.
Their successful partnership since 1997 in the energy sector has laid a strong foundation for Kazakhstan and KMG to embark on a successful energy transition.
The preliminary feasibility study (pre-FS) for the construction of a SAF production complex project in Kazakhstan has already been successfully performed through a joint initiative of KMG with the participation of the subsidiary LLP “KazMunayGaz – Aero” and JSC Air Astana.
This project received financial support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The next FS stage will further refine the project configuration and cost.
KMG is willing to lead SAF production in Kazakhstan, and Axens is thrilled to be part of this pioneering endeavor. With our expertise in KMG’s refinery modernization and successful SAF projects worldwide, we are dedicated to sharing our knowledge for seamless integration and top-notch performance. Our focus is on putting KMG’s needs at the forefront of our efforts, said Quentin Debuisschert, CEO of Axens.
