KPA Unicon Oy has announced that it has signed a contract with Energostatik d.o.o for the supply of a 7.2 MWth and 5 MWe biomass combined heat and power (CHP) plant to Grubišno Polje in Croatia. Using woody biomass, the plant will supply electricity to the national power grid and heat to the nearby wood processing plant.

Finland-headed boiler and combustion technology solution providers KPA Unicon Oy has announced that has signed an agreement with Energostatik d.o.o, a Croatia-based special purpose entity (SPE) owned by France-headed independent renewable power producer Akuo Energy SAS for the supply of a Unicon Altius 7.2 MWth and 5 MWe biomass combined heat and power plant to Grubišno Polje in Croatia.
KPA Unicon’s bioenergy solutions cover a wide range of combustion technologies and services. Akuo Energy opted for KPA Unicon’s customer-oriented approach and standardized combustion technology solution. Akuo Energy also wanted us to take responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the plant. According to a statement, KPA Unicon will supply the plant on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) turnkey contract basis. The scope of supply includes design, civil engineering and foundation work, building, steel structures, all main and process equipment, installation work, commissioning and training of the personal.
14-year off-takes, supply, and O&M contracts
The plant design is based on KPA Unicon’s Biograte combustion technology and the contract also includes a high-tech PlantSys system which enables remote support, operation and monitoring of the plant. The parties have also agreed on a 14-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract.
