Two of the Nordic's leading suppliers of biomass boiler systems, Denmark-headed Linka Energy A/S and Sweden-headed Jernforsen Energi System AB, have partnered up in a new acquisition agreement. Combined, the companies become a leading supplier of biomass boiler systems for "all professional purposes" across the biomass fuel spectrum. By acquiring Jernforsen, Linka Energy gains access to Jernforsen's biomass waste and wet fuels combustion knowhow.

By purchasing their Swedish colleague for an undisclosed sum, Linka Energy gains access to Jernforsen’s highly developed technology in combusting biomass waste such as wood waste, bark and other “wet” biomass fuels. Jernforsen is especially well-known for biomass heat plants above 4 MW typically deployed in district heating and industrial heat purposes.
We will be able to expand our current assortment of plants up to 35 MW, as well as technology in the combustion of waste wood and likewise. Together we will strengthen our skills and technologies, which will benefit our customers, commented Brian Pedersen, CEO of Linka Energy.
In addition, Jernforsen will benefit from Linka Energy’s position as a leading company in both straw and more versatile fuel combustion as well as compact and mobile biomass boiler solutions. With two different, but perfectly complementary assortments, Linka Energy and Jernforsen will ensure a strong, united platform on both existing and future markets.
With the joint offering, the companies will be able to support each other in daily operations and build relations to secure a stronger footing on their respective home markets and internationally. Together Jernforsen and Linka Energy have more than 70 years of experience in the business.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this summer, Linka Energy has built a very strong organisation of 45 highly skilled employees.
Sweden has always been one of Linka Energy’s most important markets and we will continue our focus here. We’ve had a Swedish service organisation for many years, and last year we strengthened our presence by hiring a dedicated sales manager for this market, Pedersen said.
Established in 1984, Jernforsen has around 30 staff and grown to become a leading supplier of competitive, high-quality biomass boiler plants. The core market for Jernforsen is Sweden, but the company has a strong market presence in Norway, Finland and the United Kingdom (UK).
We are looking forward to working with Linka Energy. Both companies have 35-40 years of experience in biomass and combustion and our combined knowledge will benefit all our customers, Holmgren said.
Holmgren also emphasizes that Linka Energy “has many interesting solutions in its portfolio and a vast ability in fuels, which will prove very useful to Jernforsen. We look forward to exchanging technologies with our new colleagues.”
According to a statement, both Linka Energy and Jernforsen will continue to operate as independent companies and the acquisition will have no immediate influence in the daily operations. Magnus Holmgren will continue as CEO at Jernforsen and has joined the group of investors as part of the transaction.
