Denmark-headed biogas technology provider Lundsby Renewable Solutions A/S (Lundsby) has announced that it has signed an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Finland-headed gas and energy major Gasum Oy for the design and construction of a 133 GWh per annum biomethane plant in Borlänge, Sweden.
At full capacity, the plant will convert approximately 300,000 tonnes of green sustainable feedstock – agricultural and industrial organic waste – into approximately 12 million Nm3 of biomethane aka renewable natural gas (RNG) annually.
According to Lundsby, this order marks a “significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to serve our strategic focus area and further expands our footprint in the Scandinavian region.”
Lundsby is already building a biogas plant for Gasum in Götene, Sweden, which will be operational at the beginning of 2025.
We are excited about the potential this offers for our growth and the opportunity to deliver our high-quality biogas plants and services to more customers. By accelerating the deployment of renewable energy, we aim to contribute to the EU’s goal of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030, the statement read.
Construction of the facility is planned to begin in the autumn of 2024 and completion is expected in 2026.
