Malmberg receives order for a new biogas upgrading unit in Denmark

Sweden-headed wastewater treatment and biogas technology providers MalmbergGruppen AB has announced that its subsidiary Malmberg Water AB has received an order for a new biogas upgrading facility for the Lintrup biogas plant in Denmark from Ørsted Bioenergy & Thermal Power A/S (formerly DONG Energy) in cooperation with Linko Gas a.m.b.a.

According to a statement, Ørsted and Linko Gas have decided to upgrade more of the biogas available on the site in Lintrup. By switching from gas engines (CHP) to the upgrading of the biogas instead, the capacity of biomethane production will increase substantially.

As Denmark aims to transition the gas grid to 100 percent renewable gas, it is economically more attractive to replacing the existing CHP unit with a biogas-to-biomethane upgrading unit.  Currently on site is a Malmberg Compact GR14 that was delivered in 2015.

The new project includes a Malmberg Compact GR20 and technology for pre- and post-treatment of the entire gas flow to both units.

The Malmberg biogas upgrading technology has the highest availability on the market which has been proven many times. We are very happy that Ørsted and Linkogas again have choosen Malmberg for their biogas upgrading, said André Carlsson, Business Area Director, Malmberg Biogas.

Malmberg has 10 upgrading plants in operation on the Danish market.
