In France, Moret Industries Group has announced that it has been awarded an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) by Européenne de Biomasse for the supply of a 120 000 tonnes per annum capacity wood pellet plant that can alternate production between "white" pellets and "black" pellets thanks to the integration of a steam cracking module. The unit will be located in Pomacle-Bazancourt, in Champagne-Ardenne, France, and is part of a biomass combined heat and power (CHP) project.
According to a statement, the EUR 50 million contract was signed on June 21 and represents the world’s first of its kind integrated and flexible pellet production plant. The project is being financed by Meridiam, a leading infrastructure investment group.
The project also includes a second part on the construction of a biomass combined heat and power unit which is not included in the contract signed with Moret Industries.
The contract is also an example of cooperation for the group:
- De Smet Engineers & Contractors (DSEC) – signatory of the contract as general contractor, will provide overall project management, basic and detailed design, the supply of all equipment and civil engineering
- Promill, will provide the pelletising unit
- MK Energies will supply and install the distribution to the units as well as the electric works and control.
The startup of the various units is planned for 2020.
