The newly announced dates mean that Elmia Wood 2021 avoids a direct collision with the inaugural edition of upstart Swedish Forestry Expo while it is the week following LIGNA 2021 in Hanover, Germany.

Located in the heart of the Småland forest 30 km south of Jönköping, Sweden, the Bratteborg forest estate has almost everything one could wish for as an organiser of a large forestry demonstration fair. The land and infrastructure of the Bratteborg venue meet the high demand for access and exit roads, plenty of parking space, open areas for stands as well as for service functions such as electricity, wifi, and broadband.

But most importantly, the timberland available for live demonstrations is unprecedented, despite the fact that Elmia has held forestry trade fairs there since 2001 – Elmia Wood 2021 will mean the 10th consecutive forestry event by Elmia in Bratteborg.

The growth potential of Elmia Wood continues to be great, not least in terms of increased international interest. The close collaboration with the landowner of site Bratteborg, Sandahlsbolagen (Sandahl Group), is an important enabler for further international expansion, said Mattias Pontén, Project Manager, Elmia Wood.

Precision forestry

The Bratteborg estate is a large property. The fairground itself comprises of 150 hectares of timberland, farmland and open areas. As of Elmia Wood 2021, the venue will cover new sections, not previously utilized during Elmia Wood. Pontén reveals that forestry used to be about stands or hectares, now new technology enables something known as “precision forestry”.

By utilizing the latest technologies, we now have data about all of the 47 000 trees at our fairground. Thus, the availability of timberland ready for felling at subsequent fairs is plentiful. This enables continued live demonstrations of machinery and equipment in its intended environment. Further information on how we will utilize the potential that resides within the Bratteborg venue will follow after the completion of SkogsElmia on June, 6-8 2019, ended Mattias Pontén.
