Pemco Energi, a Swedish subsidiary of Norway-headed Pemco Group has recently announced that it has acquired five biomass heat plants in southern Sweden from heat plant owner and operator Avena Energi AB.
According to a statement, the facilities are located in Vårgårda, Alingsås and Skara and are important for Pemco Energi’s efforts in the region.
The facilities in Vårgårda, Alingsås and Skara are strategically placed for us. Here we have good conditions for running heating plants and we can benefit from several synergies as we already conduct heat production at several other locations in the region, said Håkon Knappskog, CEO of Pemco Energi.
The facilities included in the purchase are located at the schools in Lena, Hol, Närunga (Vårgårda), and Långared (Alingsås) and Flämslätt Kursgård (Skara).
Pemco Energi currently owns and/or operates 82 heat plants in Sweden and Norway and has grown strongly in recent years, not least through the acquisition of other heating plants and small district heating operations. Knappskog has ambitions to continue its growth in the coming years.
The goal is to grow, and preferably through acquisitions of existing heating plants. We are therefore very pleased with the agreement we have concluded with Avena, and ready to continue on renewable energy in Vårgårda, Alingsås and Skara, said Knappskog.
Following the transaction, Avena will continue to operate three facilities in the Skåne region, the southernmost county in Sweden.
