The Netherlands-headed Koninklijke DSM N.V. (Royal DSM), a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials and US-headed industrial bioscience company Amyris, Inc., have announced that they have closed the transaction for the sale of Amyris Brasil Ltda to DSM and the establishment of a long-term manufacturing partnership for Amyris's high-volume products.
The announcement of the intended transaction was made on November 17, 2017. With the acquisition of the Brotas 1 facility, DSM adds a state-of-the-art biotechnology-based production site in Brazil with abundant availability of sustainable sugarcane feedstock to its global network securing production capacity for its “rich pipeline” of sustainable and bio-based solutions.
