Sävsjö Energi fire-up new 8 MW biomass heat plant

An 8 MW biomass boiler plant built by Axis Technologies, a subsidiary of Axis Group was opened in the city of Savsjo in Sweden. The Lithuanians completed the turnkey project as part of a contract with the Savsjo Energi.

Axis Technologies designed the boiler plant, manufactured the primary equipment, assembled it, ran it and adjusted it as part of a larger overall SEK 83 million (≈ EUR 8.62 million) project.

This is our largest biofuel energy project in Sweden so far. The Scandinavian countries are our company’s target market and our operations here are successful. Our latest step was our first bio-energy product supply agreement in Norway, which we signed several months ago, said Giedrius Vaitkevičius, CEO, Axis Technologies.

Worth EUR 3.5 million, the Lithuanian company began building the boiler plant for Savsjo Energi in the beginning of 2016 after beating nine other competitors from Scandinavian states participating in the tender. It is the third bioenergy project that Axis Technologies has implemented in Sweden within the last two years.

Last year, the company provided a biomass furnace, boiler and electrostatic precipitator for a retrofit boiler plant owned by AB Hilmer Andersson, a Swedish wood processing company. In 2016, the company completed a project for the city of Gislaved, installing a flue gas condensing economizer at a 5 MW biomass boiler plant.

Earlier this year, Axis Technologies signed an agreement with Eidsiva Bioenergi AS, a Norwegian company that provides district in Lillehammer, to provide and install a flue gas condensing economizer at the Lillehammer hot water plant.

Meeting Scandinavian engineering quality standards, Axis Technologies began working with Swedish company Saxlund Bioenergy 11 years ago and has since acquired a license to manufacture the company’s boiler furnace. The furnaces created with this license are successfully operating at 9 locations in Lithuania and abroad.
