And the 2019 Bio Market Insights Innovation Award winners were

A panel of global industry majors from across the bio-based sector cast their verdicts and the winners of the Bio Market Insights Innovation Awards 2019 were revealed at a ceremony during the 14th World Bio Markets event in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. There’s a great feeling of momentum and positivity around bio-based materials, chemicals, and products and this is reflected in the growth of demand from consumers," remarked Luke Upton Editor and Co-founder of Bio Market Insights and organisers.

“We are so happy to win the audience’s vote for best pitch. We will continue our mission of bringing a biobased and sustainable alternative to plastic foams and you can expect to see more of Cellufoam in the near future, remarked Paula Martirez (centre), Business Development Manager, Cellutech with Luke Upton, Bio Market Insights and Åsa Ek, Stora Enso.

Now in its fourteenth year, this year’s edition of World Bio Markets event featured speakers such as Allbirds, Lego, North Face, Neste, Clariant, H&M, SEKAB, and many more enjoying three days of workshops, keynotes, panel discussions, roundtables, and networking opportunities. The panel of global bio-based industry heavyweights consisted of Marcel van Berkel, CEO VanBerkel Consultancy; Bridgett Luther, Co-Founder, The Disruptive Factory, founder Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute; Dr Melanie Williams, Director, Melanie Williams Consulting; Dr Michaël Kolk, Partner Arthur D. Little (ADL) and Dr Jo Anne Shatkin, President, Vireo Advisors, LLC.

According to Luke Upton Editor and Co-founder of Bio Market Insights and organisers of the event, the panel was “very impressed by the abundant array” of entries for this year’s awards.  and after much deliberation they were whittled down to the finalists. The winners were announced at a ceremony during World Bio Markets 2019 that attracted over 500 bioeconomy professionals to the Port Terminals Amsterdam venue in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Once again we have been delighted by the great variety of entries we have received, they really show the breadth and quality of what is happening in the bio-economy at the moment. There’s a great feeling of momentum and positivity around bio-based materials, chemicals and products and this is reflected in the growth of demand from consumers. Through these awards, and across three days in Amsterdam for World Bio Markets, it’s been fantastic to be able to cast a spotlight on some truly amazing innovations. The judges had a really tough time choosing our winners, with only a few votes between our final places. A big thanks to our judging panel and all our entrants, remarked Luke Upton Editor and Co-founder of Bio Market Insights and organisers.
